Marketplace

How the marketplace is ordered

The default order

Without a sort of your own, the marketplace shows apps in the order SIDES curates. It is built from four steps, in this order of precedence:

  1. Paid placement. A provider can book from SIDES, for a fee, that one of its apps stands at the top for a set period. Such apps come before all others and carry the visible label “Sponsored”. Among themselves they are ordered by the start of their booking.
  2. Editorial featuring. SIDES features apps by its own choice (“Featured by SIDES”). No fee is paid for it. An app that is also placed for a fee appears once — among the sponsored apps, and with their label.
  3. Position set by SIDES. SIDES can give apps a position in the marketplace. Apps with a position come before apps without one.
  4. Name. All other apps follow alphabetically by their name in the language shown, from A to Z. Where two names are the same, the more recently published app comes first.

Other sort orders

Sorting by name or by publication date gives the list in exactly that order. The sponsored and featured apps of the page shown still stand in their own rails above the list. An app carries the “Sponsored” label wherever it is shown, for as long as its placement runs — on its own page and on its provider's page too.

What does not affect the order

Customer ratings and SIDES's own rating are shown but do not change the order. Neither does a provider's tier. A paid placement changes no rating, no badge, and not whether an app appears in the marketplace at all — only apps SIDES has reviewed and published appear.
